Boris Johnson is visiting Wales today as Sue Gray’s publication is expected

The Prime Minister travels to North Wales today as questions over his future continue.

He joins Welsh secretary Simon Hart on his trip today to ‘see leveling in action’, his spokesman said.

There is still no confirmation that Downing Street has received the Cabinet Office report compiled by Sue Gray on parties and events held in Downing Street during the lockdown and no certainty when it will be published.

Legal and human resources officials are expected to review it before it can be sent to Downing Street for publication. And Mr Johnson was pictured this morning leaving No 10 for North Wales, where he is expected to arrive mid-morning.

The Prime Minister has pledged to make a statement in the House of Commons after receiving the report, but as he is in North Wales this morning and the House is due to finish sitting at 5 p.m. Thursday and that ‘no government business scheduled for Friday could delay the timing of any address to MPs next week.

It was then suggested that the Cabinet Office report could only cover events not investigated by the police, but the Met denied this, saying it could be published in full. The latest suggestions are that there are now rows between police and government lawyers, as well as unions, over what details can be made public, with some hints the report could now take until next week to be made public.

Mr Johnson also came under fire this week for an email suggesting he had personally approved the evacuation of animals and staff from the Nowzad charity, which he had, and his staff continue to deny.
