Closure of the Obajana cement plant

Dangote Cement Plc (DANGCEM-NL), Africa’s largest cement producer, wishes to enlighten stakeholders and the public on the recent closure of our Obajana Cement plant in Kogi State. On Wednesday 5th October 2022 local state government thugs and vigilantes raided and sealed off Obajana cement factory following allegations of unpaid taxes and Kogi state government claimed a stake in Dangote Cement PLC. This development has led to several of our staff being injured by these local thugs and militiamen.

As we assure stakeholders and the public that we are taking firm action to remedy this situation, we reaffirm that Dangote Cement PLC continues to meet its obligations as a compliant company.

The well-being of our staff remains our primary focus as we work hard to minimize further impact on our people and our operations. However, we remain committed to transforming Africa while creating lasting value for our people, communities, investors and customers.
