DSS rejects malicious online post on Lekki Killing –
The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed a bogus online posting authored by a certain Adio Oluwole Bashir who claimed to be a former Service staff member.
Bashir claimed to have led the team that arrested the suspected killers of David Imoh, a sound engineer who was allegedly murdered on May 12, 2022 in Lekki, Lagos State.

Therefore, the Service declares that Bashir is neither a serving nor retired staff member on its list. Moreover, his writing style and use of paraphernalia made him seem like a fake and an impostor. Findings, however, revealed that his goal was to spark an ethno-religious conflict. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command issued an unambiguous statement on the entire episode.
The command clarification should help the public understand what really happened. Dragging the DSS who never participated in Lekki’s operation into his biased account exposes the lies and intentions of Adio Oluwole Bashir and his cronies.
The DSS would like to state that the description is completely false and disapproves of the calculated effort to use his name for malicious purposes.
He therefore asks the public to disregard the misleading narrative.
The Service also warns those determined to throw the country into violence to retrace their steps and give peace a chance.
While he reaffirms his commitment to continue working with sister agencies to ensure lasting peace in the country, he will also not hesitate to bring to justice those who are determined to break the law.
Sound engineer David Imoh was lynched by an angry mob of Okada runners in the Lekki area of Lagos State on May 12 in circumstances that are still unclear following a hasty altercation by a dispute over 100 naira.
