Editor-in-Chief (Web3 Publication) – Pedestrian Professions

Pedestrian group (Winner – Publishing House of the Year, Mumbrella Publish Awards 2021) is looking for a detail-oriented Editor to help lead a premier Australian publication focused on all things Web3.
Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the editorial team: setting the daily news agenda, managing the team’s production and workflow, editing content as necessary and contribute to the conduct of strategies. to achieve growth both on the site and on social networks.
This is a senior role best suited to an experienced editor with excellent organizational and management skills, an enthusiasm for creating more efficient editorial processes, strategic problem-solving and decision-making skills. decision-making, and an obsessive interest in all things Web3 and its potential to impact the way we live, through culture, finance, business and more.
The editor-in-chief will:
- Work with the Editor and Managing Editor to define the voice and editorial strategy for this exciting new publication
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the editorial team, including overseeing a team of journalists to ensure quality, on-time production in each key coverage area, including business, finance and culture
- Work with the Editorial Manager and Senior Audience Growth and Insights Manager to develop and drive audience acquisition strategies for the publication and its relevant platforms
- Work with SEO Manager to ensure all content is optimized and follows best practices
- Oversee all day-to-day administrative matters, legal concerns and personnel issues for the editorial team
- Undertake standard editorial tasks (editing, rewriting, generating story ideas) as required
- Foster relationships with key advertisers by attending and occasionally participating in industry events
- Manage the editorial team’s wider content calendar, including planning coverage of notable events within the Web3 space
The position requires someone with:
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of Web3 with a finger firmly up to date with the latest blockchain news and developments
- Proven journalism background, ideally in a capacity where you helped shape the tone of voice and content of a brand
- Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring staff writers, giving constructive feedback on ideas, stories and style
- The ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, reacting quickly and appropriately
- Exceptional editing skills, with great attention to detail
- Superior judgment and discretion
- Solid understanding of SEO
