‘Fish’ missing items in a post
Sheevendra Sharma explains here how scientific publications are often measured solely by their end result, missing the important contributions that precede and introduce Profeza, a platform they co-founded with the intention of changing that dynamic.

Research, formerly called ‘voyage of discovery’, is the organized and systematic process of collecting information, analyzing data and generating new concrete findings relating to any discipline of study for the advancement of knowledge. It is a tedious process and is usually supported by authentic bibliographic references to reinforce and consolidate the results.
A former professor at the University of Michigan, Clifford Woody, who has addressed a wide range of problems in education, once said that research is about defining, redefining a problem and formulating a hypothesis. Although the research process has several stages, it is primarily the result of the research (i.e. publication) that is prioritized.
The road to consolidating research is generally long and requires substantial effort. Usually, a research process consists of three stages. The first step is basically to put in place the resources. Recruiting the right workforce, assessing, managing, establishing funds and establishing partnerships are some of the tasks undertaken.
The second step encompasses the research methodology. Carrying out research on a topic, discovering the fundamentals, reading, reviewing research, performing experiments, troubleshooting results, and scrutinizing the research constitute the methodology. The basics of research are to state the hypothesis, project the problem, formulate the question, provide the solution, present evidence, develop the argument, analyze the data, and apply the design of the research. the research.
There are two basic approaches to research – quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative refers to the number of publications a researcher makes at the start of their career, and qualitative refers to where each publication appears.
The definition of search is subjective, but the process and functionality are the same. In the case of students writing a thesis / dissertation, this is the way to achieve a high position in the social structure. For philosophers and thinkers, research is the channel for new ideas and perspectives. Analysts and intellectuals look to research to develop new theories.
The third step deals with sharing the research work in the form of publication, managing the data and bringing benefits to society with the end results.
The real reflection of a researcher’s real scientific potential is delivered in the first two steps. however, they are hardly noticed. The only thing that matters, it seems, is the publication of an end result in leading journals or the desire to increase the number of citations.
Profeza is a social platform for scientists / researchers dedicated to changing the way of evaluating research and researchers and trying to effect change in the scientific community. The platform introduces accountability and transparency. By introducing accountability, it aims to affirm a candidate’s suitability to work as an independent researcher, and by introducing transparency, it ensures that their work is reproducible and accessible to all.
