If there is anything conspicuously absent, it is the availability of contemporary military history in everyday discourse. There is a real shortage of literature not only for researchers but also for the ordinary citizen. This is where the AAN Comics “Warrior Pack” fills with 24 stories of bravery covering recipients of the Ashoka Chakra. The collection is not just a comic book series, but a military story told in a unique style that should be considered part of Indian military history and culture. He tells us about the tradition of bravery, courage and sacrifice that has characterized Indian soldiers since time immemorial.-Colonel (retired) Divakaran Padmakumar PillayShaurya Chakra, PhD., Military Historian and Researcher at Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense and Strategic Analysis

As a veteran of the 1971 war and counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast, I know that the line between war and peace is blurring and that bravery, whether fighting an internal or external enemy, is bravery. Because peacetime operations don’t get the same coverage as wartime operations, the courage shown by our men often goes unnoticed. AAN Comics is to be commended for bringing out this series of illustrated Ashoka Chakra Winners books that draw our audience’s attention to the heroism our soldiers demonstrate almost daily. Heroism is not only displayed by soldiers in the fight against an enemy, it is also displayed by soldiers and civilians in other situations where they risk their own lives at stake to save those of their fellow citizens. The Ashoka Medal Series is also applicable to them and as such is an inspiration to all.Commander Chandrakant Singh, Vir Chakraauthor and veteran

In its 75 years since independence, India had to fight five wars and defend itself in countless acts of terrorism and conflict situations threatening its peace. Although the supreme courage and sacrifice for India and her people has been endless, the stories of bravery and glory of the true heroes are not well known to the citizens. A country with such a rich tradition of putting nation above all else must continue to inspire and motivate its children and young people in an increasingly conflicted world. This exciting and engaging comic book series also tells the story in a way that’s easy to read, understand, and helps soak up the spirit of patriotism that makes heroes rise above mere mortals. in all situations that required bravery and sacrifice. This fitting tribute to the men and women in service to the country will make every citizen proud and inspire many others to follow in the footsteps of the sacred heroes.Meghna Girishmanother of a Braveheart and Founder-Administrator, Major Akshay Girish Memorial Trust.
