Jobs hit as Reach ceases publication of Scottish Business Insider
Jobs are about to be lost after a regional publisher decided to cease print publication of one of its titles after 38 years.
Reach plc has confirmed it is closing Scottish Business Insider, although it will continue as an online-only business.
It is understood that a small number of roles could be affected as a result of the move, although Reach has yet to reveal exactly how many.
Three editorial staff are listed on the magazine’s Insider.co.uk website – editor Kenny Kemp, editor Peter Walker and journalist John Glover.
Four publicity and events staffers – Marcia Mitchell, Stacey Longshaw, Megan Waugh and Laura Dunlop – are also listed.
HTFP understands that affected individuals are currently in consultation with Reach regarding their roles.
Scottish Business Insider was started in 1984 by two entrepreneurs, Alastair Balfour and Ray Perman.
It was bought by Reach’s predecessor company, Trinity Mirror, in 2000, and the companion website went live in 2017.
The magazine was originally published monthly, but in recent years its publication frequency has been reduced to quarterly.
Earlier this month, HTFP revealed that Reach was reducing its print production operations following a reduction in pagination.
As a result, a voluntary departure scheme was opened up to editors working in four regions.
Reach declined to comment when approached by HTFP.
