KDE launches a new look in the relaunch of the Kentucky Teacher publication – Kentucky Teacher

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has launched a new version of its flagship publication, Kentucky teacher, April 4. Over the course of nearly two years, KDE has been working on a redesign of the site.

The goal of the redesign is to make the website more user-friendly and accessible to everyone. It also features a clean layout, new colors and new logos. Kentucky teacher staff continue to expand the reach of the publication to include as many students, educators, families and community stakeholders as possible.

“We began working on this redesign several months before the pandemic and discussed different ideas and versions to deliver on our promise to highlight the strengths and triumphs of Kentucky Public Schools,” said Toni Konz Tatman, manager. communications at KDE. “Telling the stories of our students, school employees and districts is important now more than ever. You’ll continue to see news reports and stories about various KDE meetings, but you’ll also start to see how our students and schools are benefiting from over $2 billion in federal pandemic relief funding.

Kentucky teacher will also continue to share more stories about KDE’s groundbreaking vision for the future of public education, United We Learn. This vision is built around three central themes: creating a more dynamic experience for every student, encouraging innovation in our schools, especially in assessment, and creating a bold new future for Kentucky schools through collaboration with our communities. Kentucky teacher contribute to this vision by sharing stories about education stakeholders from all walks of life and provide updates and insights on United We Learn.

When it was launched decades ago, KDE released Kentucky teacher communicate directly with the state’s 45,000 public school teachers. The stories in this award-winning publication include news, features, insights, and practical, actionable ideas to guide students to higher levels of success.

Kentucky teacher the subscriber list grew to around 150,000 each week. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was receiving more than 100,000 visits per month to the website. On average, it currently receives between 40,000 and 50,000 visits per month.

“Despite its name, I want Kentucky teacher to be a place that amplifies the voice not only of teachers, but also of students, families, community members and all education stakeholders,” said Kentucky teacher Editor Jackie Thompson. “I hope this continues to demonstrate what these people need to be successful and highlight the incredible triumphs that occur among them every day.”
