Meta criticizes publication The Wire for publishing ‘fabricated’ stories
New Delhi, October 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) Meta (formerly Facebook) information security chief Guy Rosen on Tuesday slammed The Wire for publishing two articles, which Rosen said were “strange and full of falsehoods.”
Rosen, in a Twitter thread, said he wanted to set the record straight about two stories that The Wire ran this week “with false claims about Meta’s operations and content moderation processes.”
“These stories are fabrications. The stories are simply incorrect about the cross-checking program, which was designed to prevent possible over-application errors. It has nothing to do with being able to report messages , as alleged in the article,” he posted. .
On October 10, The Wire published an article titled “If BJP’s Amit Malviya flags your post, Instagram will delete it – no questions asked.”
The article alleged that BJP’s Malviya is an all-powerful individual who can delete any social media post on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Rosen said that in “his October 10 post, @thewire_in links to a supposed internal report on the incident in question. This appears to be a fabrication. The URL for this ‘report’ is an unused URL. . The naming convention is one we don’t use. There’s no such relationship.”
The Wire reran a story on Oct. 11 claiming that Meta’s director of political communications, Andy Stone, sent an angry email to the team demanding that the leaked document’s “activity report” be given to him. sent and that The Wire’s reporter and editor be put on a “watch list” so that communications directed to them by Meta staff can be monitored.
Rosen said Andy Stone’s alleged email “is a fake”.
“The supposed email address it was sent from isn’t even Stone’s current email address, and the ‘to’ address isn’t the one we’re using here either. There is no such email. This same story refers to an inside reporter’s ‘watch list’. There is no such list,” Rosen posted on Twitter.
“These accusations are outlandish and full of falsehoods. Let’s hope @thewire_in is the victim and not the perpetrator of this hoax,” Meta’s chief information security officer said.
The Wire had yet to respond to Rosen’s tweet storm.
