Tracing Early Moravian Activity in the Mid-Atlantic: A Guide

Nazareth, Pennsylvania—The Moravian Historical Society (MHS) is pleased to announce its new publication, Tracing Early Moravian Activity in the Mid-Atlantic: A Guide is now available.

The book, researched and written by Scott Gordon, is beautifully designed by Heather Reinert. The volume traces the sites and structures of early Moravian activity in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. During their first two decades in the mid-Atlantic region, the Moravians preached the gospel, built churches, established missions and schools, and launched ships. In most cases, there is little left in these places to mark this extraordinary work. This guide describes these places and provides addresses, where possible, so that users can visit the sites. The 32-page volume is in color with lavishly illustrated images and maps.

On Saturday, April 9 at 4 p.m., Scott Gordon will discuss the book’s research process and the challenges of tracking down early Moravian sites, some of which no longer exist. The conversation is free. Places are limited, advance registration is requested through our website: moravianhistory.org.
