The Royal Philatelic Society London has added the second version of David Beech’s bibliography The History of Philately in Great Britain and Ireland – A Bibliography of Monographs, Gray Literature and Selected Texts to a web page dedicated to published guides.

This bibliography records texts relating to philately in Great Britain and Ireland, including published and semi-published texts (such as internal documents, reports, meeting notes and other non-commercially available material ).

Beech, the former Curator and Head of Philatelic Collections at the British Library, said he intended his bibliography to support current work in recording and understanding the history of philately, its organization and its development and “its economic, political and social context”.

He added that he has recorded biographical as well as historical works, and that the recorded works pay particular attention to philatelic societies.

This updated bibliography, numbering nearly 50 pages, is fully indexed. Its content can be searched by keyword through the online format. the Journal of philatelic literature published the first version of this bibliography in 2016.

The Royal Philatelic Society London also includes Beech’s How to take care of your collection and Philatelic Research – A Basic Guide on its web page dedicated to published guides.

Additionally, the page includes a publication style guide for the Royal Philatelic Society London and an article titled What philatelists need to know about copyright by Charles Oppenheim.

Beech said his bibliography is a work in progress and anyone with additional information, improvements or corrections can contact him by email at drbeech@btinternet.com.
