US Publication Names NorthBay Medical Center ‘High Performer’ in Maternity Care
FAIRFIELD – NorthBay Medical Center has been recognized as “High Performing” in Maternity Care by US News & World Report.
This is the first time the publication has published a list of the best hospitals for maternity, according to information from NorthBay Healthcare.
To earn this recognition, hospitals had to excel on several measures important to pregnant families, including complication rates, C-sections, whether births were scheduled too early in pregnancy, and how well each hospital supported breastfeeding.
Of approximately 2,700 U.S. hospitals that provide maternity services, only 237 achieved a “High Performing” rating. This is the highest rated US News & World Report award for maternity services.
“This rating is a testament to the quality of care provided by our team,” Katie Lydon, senior director of Periop Services, Wound Care and Ambulatory Surgery, said in the release. “We want our patients to know that we are fully committed to providing a safe and positive experience for mothers, babies and families using best practices across maternity services.”
“We have an exceptional team of caregivers who help welcome hundreds of babies around the world each year, with high-risk pregnancy and neonatal intensive care services when needed,” said Wayne Gietz, president of NorthBay Healthcare Group, in the press release. “We are extremely honored to be named one of the top maternity hospitals in the country.”
“This award confirms that our patients can have peace of mind choosing a healthcare provider who has a proven track record of providing mother and child with the most compassionate care and cutting-edge medicine close to home. said NorthBay President and CEO Konard Jones. , in the press release.
The award follows another recent award for maternity care.
NorthBay Medical Center in October earned a spot on the maternity honor roll of California Health and Human Services and Cal Hospital Compare for achieving a statewide goal to reduce cesarean births in first-time mothers with low-risk pregnancies.
The U.S. News & World Report honor also follows the magazine’s July Top Hospitals report which ranked NorthBay Medical Center among California’s Top 50 Regional Hospitals and rated it “High Performing” in Urology and in six specific specialized procedures and conditions: diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, pneumonia and stroke.
“All families deserve to know about how hospitals are performing on key quality indicators, which is why US News has compiled and published a wealth of maternal health data from hospitals across the country,” Ben said. Harder, editor and head of health analytics. to US News & World Report, in the press release. “Hospitals we have recognized as high performers meet high standards of care for patients with uncomplicated pregnancies.”
The Best Maternity Hospitals rating examines offerings for expectant parents that include safety measures, as well as services and amenities, like private rooms and the availability of birthing classes.
The assessment focuses only on hospital data on uncomplicated pregnancies, not on high-risk pregnancies. Participating hospitals responded to a survey by the US News & World Report health analytics team in the spring of 2021, which reflects data from 2019.
