When will the publication of the manga resume?

Berserk Publisher Hakusensha has announced that the manga series will return following the passing of original series creator Kentaro Miura, and has set a date for the manga’s big comeback! Last year, Miura was unfortunately passed and the series was able to release a final chapter which he left incomplete thanks to the work of his assistants. The creator’s passing also meant the end of the original series despite the desperation with which fans wanted to see it continue, but it was announced that the series would continue as people very close to the creator took up the torch.

Hakusensha has announced that Berserk will resume publication in the pages of Young Animal magazine on June 24. As noted by the magazine’s editorial team, the series will have six more chapters to close out the Fantasia Arc/Elf Island chapter” before starting a new arc. The series will pick up with Miura’s close friend Kouji Mori taking the relay from Miura. lots of notes and story ideas on the continuation of the series.

Hakusensha detailed plans for Berserk’s return in a special letter to fans with the following: “Before his passing, Kentaro Miura spoke to his close friend Kouji Mori about the stories and episodes he had in mind for Berserk. He also had similar talks with his studio team and editor. He wondered, would everyone be surprised if I drew something like this? How about a character like this? Would this story be interesting? The talks weren’t meant to be his last words, but were part of his regular days as a manga artist.”

The team also noted how much they wanted the story to end for the fans and for Miura’s sake, “Mr. Miura shared with us during this time. We also found idea memos that he wrote and designs for the characters he drew and left behind. We were reluctant to complete his story without sharing them with his fans. Our hope is for the event or to read the final episode that we put in up to the very last frame.

But what do you think? What do you think of the continuation of the Berserk manga without the creator of the original series? Are you happy to see the series returning with new chapters?
